The fact that your team WANTS to be coached may seem odd, but it's true. We all enjoy the feeling of a job well done; many more of us are longing to be praised and recognized as well. So, what is coaching/training if not helping your team feel confident in the job they are doing, while praising and encouraging the right behaviors?
I was amazed to learn from one of my own sales reps that she has spoken with 3 different CSR's who have listened into our FREE CSR Coaching calls, and wanted to join our CSR Mastery Coaching Program - but their principals wouldn't let them. Wow, can't believe that if you have team members who are taking the initiative you wouldn't encourage their professional growth and enroll them today.
On the other side of the spectrum I've spoke with Agency Principals who are "asking" their team members if they want to participate in the CSR Mastery Program and FIRING those that say "no". I don't revel in the fact that someone would lose their job, but at the end of the day, whose name is on the sign out front?
Here's the point (and trust me, I feel like a broken record saying this) but NOW is the time for action. If you're not coaching, training, role playing and holding your team accountable who will? If you're not willing to do what's required don't come crying to me in 1-2 years, when you're forced to sell your agency to the Agency Principal down the street, who was willing to hold THEIR team's "feet to the fire". Yeah it's a bit of a rant but it's the truth, glaringly obvious. At the very least YOU SHOULD request a copy of my FREE "CSR Money Bible" and review it with your team. Please, just do something.
