It's inevitable that your book of business will experience some level
of attrition. clients leave for a number of reasons and it's not so
much the "why" that matters but just that you are asking. Polling your
clients on the way out is critical because of a principle called
engagement. The fundamental truth being; if you engage in a two way
interaction, relationship is developed.
Why is it important to engage with your exiting clients though? Their leaving, good riddance.?
Well
the irony of the situation is that your previous clients also happen to
be one of your WARMEST lead lists. If you engage with them as they
leave you warm them even more and increase the likely hood that they
will come back to you. The easiest way to do this is by using a
survey, like this one, as they leave (this site could be yours free if your a Quantum Club Member). Not only does this strategy engage but it also answers 3 key questions:
1. Why are clients leaving you?
2. Who they are going to?
3. What is the probability that you will get them back?
Follow
the survey up with a phone call or piece of marketing and you have the
makings of a simple yet effective previous client reactivation
strategy. Most of 'em didn't leave you because they hate you, however,
they will not think to come back on their own. Once they experience
the horror that is most of the other agencies out there, they will be
happy to come back.
